Application
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the primary means of applying for financial aid. This application serves as the required form for all Federal and State financial aid. The FAFSA should be filed before May 1 for aid in the following fall. In addition, the Student Financial Services Office will need a completed Evening School Institutional Verification Form, and copies of previous year tax returns and W-2 forms. All forms are available on the Ursinus website. In order to be considered for the Charlotte Newcombe Scholarship Grant, follow the guidelines noted for that award. The Stafford loan has a separate application that needs to be completed. This form can be completed online at www.simpletuition.com/ursinus.  Application for aid generally takes 4 to 6 weeks to process and should be completed for every year of attendance.

State Grants
Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) State Grant: This state-funded program requires that you fill out a FAFSA. Also, you must be a Pennsylvania resident (for at least the preceding 12 months) and at least a half-time student (6 or more credits/semester). The grants range from $100 to $3,507 (amounts change annually) per academic year for a full-time student and are based on financial need.

Federal Grants
The Federal Pell Grant is awarded to students who demonstrate a high need. You must enroll in a minimum of one course a semester and maintain satisfactory academic progress in order to continue to receive this assistance. Grants are available in the fall and spring and range between $890 and $4,731 per academic year (amounts change annually) for a full-time student. Students are required to fill out the FAFSA to be considered for this award.

Federal Subsidized Stafford Loans
There are two types of Federal Stafford Loans: subsidized and unsubsidized. The subsidized loan is a need-based loan with the accruing interest paid by the Federal Government during your in-school, deferment, and grace periods. The unsubsidized loan is a low interest loan available to students who do not qualify for the subsidized loan or whose parents do not qualify for the Federal PLUS Program. The interest accrued on the unsubsidized loan is the responsibility of the borrower. Repayment of Stafford Loans begins 6 months after the student graduates or drops below half-time enrollment.
