The other day I heard a story about two caterpillars
crawling along next to one another in the grass. Suddenly a butterfly flew
overhead and the one caterpillar said to the other, “I could never fly in
a million years!”
I have been a part of the Ursinus evening school for the last fifteen
years and seen some industrious caterpillars turn into wonderful
butterflies. As an instructor in that much-feared field of mathematics,
I have spent countless hours simply urging students to believe in
themselves and their own capacities. So many students have gone
beyond crawling in the grass to soaring in the skies above.
What seemed so impossible to some students at first, became not only
possible but also attainable through the variety of programs offered
and the enthusiastic support of an excellent faculty.

There are so many ways to meet student needs and still maintain excellence
in learning.
